Inventory and holds
The Own column
On the Market tab, the Own column shows how many copies of an item you own, split into available and held copies.
If some copies are held, a 🔒 marker appears next to the number. Hover it to see a tooltip such as:
Available 3, held 2 — five copies total, two of them still locked.
The tooltip also groups held items by release time:
- N items unlock in N days;
- N items unlock today;
- N items held (date unknown) when Steam does not provide an exact date.
What “hold” means
Steam can temporarily restrict selling and trading for recently received items after a trade, market purchase, or drop. The item stays in your inventory, but it cannot be listed yet. SteamMarketRunner calls this a market hold.
When all copies are held, SteamMarketRunner does not try to sell them. Once the hold expires, the item becomes available and can be listed automatically.
Hold state comes from the live Steam inventory during synchronization, so Own reflects what can be sold right now.
Why an item is not selling
A hold is only one possible reason. The Status column on the Market tab shows whether an item is Ready or Skipped; hover the status to see the engine verdict and reason. See How trading works.
Typical sell-side skip reasons:
| Reason | Meaning |
|---|---|
| All copies are under Steam market hold | no owned copy can be listed yet |
| No marketable asset for listing | there is no free, sellable asset id |
| Already listed | an active listing already exists |
| Blocked by sticker guard | CS2 sticker protection stopped the sale |
| Blocked by float guard | CS2 float protection stopped the sale |
| Sell price is not calculated yet | market data is still warming up |
If the item is Skipped, hover the status. A hold usually means “wait”; other reasons usually point to strategy settings or data warm-up.
Inventory import
The Import inventory button on the Market tab scans your Steam inventory and adds missing items to the tracked list.
This matters because an item can exist in Steam but be invisible to the runner until it is tracked. Import closes that gap.
The import summary reports how many items were added, already tracked, or not found in the catalog. Imported items have BUY and SELL disabled until you enable them.
Groups
Items can be combined into groups with separate strategy overrides. Groups are managed on the Market tab: create a group, select it, and move items with a bulk action.
A group strategy overrides the account strategy for its items. Use this to run conservative settings for expensive items and more aggressive settings for liquid items.
